"Heave awa' chaps, I'm no' dead yet"
1861년 11월 24일의 이른 새벽, 5 층짜리 주택이었던 Paisely Close(페이즐리 가) 의 썩어 들어가던 나무 기둥이 빌딩 전체가 무너지면서 35명의 사상자가 발생했다. 무너진 곳에 갇힌 부상자들을 구출하러 온 이들은 그 난리 속에서 어디선가 들려오는 어린 남자아이의 반복된 외침을 듣게 된다. "Heave awa men, I'm no deid yet." (여기 좀 꺼내줘요, 나 아직 안 죽었어요) Joseph Mclver 라는 이름의 이 소년은 감사하게도 별 부상 없이 구출되었다.
이후 새 빌딩이 그 자리에 지어졌고, 사진에서 보이는 Joseph 의 조각상과 (좀더 생동감 있게 살짝 바뀐) 그의 말, "Heave awa' chaps, I'm no' dead yet" 이 입구에 장식되게 된 것이다.
In the early hours of 24 November 1861, 35 people were killed when a five storey tenement, whose timber supports had become rotten, collapsed almost vertically at this location. In the frenzy of trying to rescue those trapped, the workers heard the repeated cry of a young boy from under the rubble saying "Heave awa men, I'm no deid yet." The youngster was called Joseph McIver and thankfully he was rescued without major injury.
When a new building was eventually constructed on the site (Paisley Close), Joseph's sculpture was incorporated over the entrance along with the (more eloquent) words "Heave awa' chaps, I'm no' dead yet" as shown in the picture below.
